Objectives

THE MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE ROMANIAN SOCIETY OF ETHNOPHARMACOLOGY ARE THE FOLLOWING:

• Establishing the development and integration methodology of the traditional medicine into the health system;
• Preserving the cultural heritage regarding ethnopharmacology in the Romanian society;
• Restoring and bring up to date the traditional cures;
• Evaluating the natural resources (known plants and active principles (known plants and active principles, plants with therapeutic effect not tested scientifically etc);
• Providing consultancy and assistance in the field of environmental protection, protected areas, biodiversity, agri-sylvo-pastoral system and rural areas;
• Fundraising and implementing projects focused on ecological restoration, ecological education and public awareness for the environment protection, biodiversity conservation and sustainable rural development;
• Fundraising and implementing projects focused on database, GIS maps, and informatics systems specific for natural and anthropic modified ecosystems;
• Managing and monitoring plants for protected areas of national and European interest;
• Organizing scientific meetings and seminars, national and international experience exchanges focused on ecological restoration environment protection, biodiversity conservation and sustainable rural development;
• Promoting and supporting ecological agriculture and forestry, agri-tourism, ecotourism, ethno tourism and sustainable rural development;
• Supporting young graduates from relevant faculties to identify and use natural and Romanian traditional resources, their involvement in research with the goal of obtaining raw materials for medicine, cosmetic and food industry;
• Establishing the risks boundaries of the pharmaceutical-toxicology in the use of the traditional remedies trough laboratory research (chemical, biochemical, microbiologic, pharmacologic, pharmaco-dynamic and clinic);
• Writing of the local pharmacopoeia that contain therapeutic systems specific for the Romanian civilization. Inventory of the existing knowledge through well organized field interviews and stimulation of the tradition holders in sharing these information;
• Elaborating of monographs for the used medicinal species in Romania, with their traditional mark;
• Elaborating of the Traditional Romanian Pharmacopoeia.

• Analysis of the gathered information and study proposals based on it;
• Evaluation methods in laboratory including toxicology;
• Applications and back to field;
• Establishing of the traditional pharmacopoeia;
• Establishing of the developing and integration methodology of the traditional medicine in the health system.
